[Trend]: The Return of the Backpack

I'm pretty sick of seeing so many satchel/messenger bags that just make me want the PS1, and the Mulberry Alexa. I've noticed the backpack slowly making a comeback, but in that sort of small bucket bag style - which is a bit too 'back to primary school' for me. However, I'm really I'm hoping to see more styles like the one above; still sort of messenger style I guess, but I like how its worn.

"Bleu de Chanel" starring Gaspard Ulliel

Any excuse for a little eye candy, hehe.

CHANEL has released their new ad for their men's perfume Bleu de Chanel, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring my favourite utterly dreamy, gorgeous, French actor Gaspard Ulliel. Watch it HERE.

It's So Easy From Above

"Sure we all have soul-mates but we walk past them everyday"

I just got word of Ben Folds' interesting new album Lonely Avenue, to be released September 28th. The album is a collaboration with author/writer Nick Hornby (About A Boy, High Fidelity) with Hornby providing the lyrics and stories and Folds writing the music and the melodies. I kind of stopped following Ben Folds after Songs For Silverman, (just from laziness) but from my first listen of this new project, I'm definitely intrigued by it.

The first single from the album "From Above" was premiered on Triple J last Wednesday. It's a really great up-beat piano song, and I just loved the story in the lyrics; two people, two soul-mates who keep almost crossing paths, but they just get on with lives never knowing how close they were to one another.

I couldn't find a video but you can have a listen here: www.myspace.com/benfolds

Lonely Avenue will be released September 28th (coincidentally also my birthday, heh).

[Listen]: No One's Gonna Love You (Cover)

Released earlier this month, Cee-lo Green's electro-tinged cover of Band Of Horses' "No One's Gonna Love You". It was definitely a smart choice to cover this. I personally think it's always better to cover songs that not quite forgotten yet.

Probably would have been a disaster in anyone else's hands. But this is a much-needed change from all the auto-tuned crap out there; and thanks to Cee-lo's amazing vocals, I think he's given us something pretty special.

Long Live McQueen!

(or McQueen is Not Dead)

I know it's been almost a month since my last post, but I don't like to post something just for the sake of it. I've been much busier than usual (starting a new job, and helping organise my mother's wedding), but it's mostly because I haven't felt all that inspired by anything that I would share on my blog. But I'm here now, and it's nice to be back.

Butter London Fall '10 Collection: All Hail McQueen, Bumster, Marrow, and Victoriana.

First up is exciting new nail polish news! Butter London has released two new colours in the their new Fall 2010 collection paying homage to the late and great Alexander McQueen. The polishes All Hail McQueen and Bumster both inspired by the designer, Marrow, and Victoriana. However, the two that I find most intriguing the are McQueen, and Victoriana; which was inspired by vintage British fabrics.

My collection of nail polish is rather lacking in metallics and holographic colours. But I think these two will make a great addition to my growing collection. Which is why I ordered them online last Thursday from Honey Honey, and awaiting its arrival any day now!
